The palm frond was a Roman symbol of victory and triumph and
was carried over to be a Christian symbol of the triumph of
martyrs in gaining heaven. The disciples of Jesus waved palm
leaves during His triumphal entry ride into Jerusalem as He
approached death. The palm symbolizes His victory over
death, His resurrection.
