Standing near the window in the west wall of the study, the dark stained wood of the desk almost shines in the spring light. The desk is over three meters long, more than a meter wide, and has file drawers supporting it in three spaced columns. It looks very solid. The most noticeable thing on it is a device about a meter high.
The next noticeable thing on the desk is a small tortoise, apparently asleep on top of a large book. The book is titled The Works of Nicholas Poussin.
Other things on the desk include various loose papers, a fountain pen and inkwell, a T-square, and a geometrical compass. Notable by its absence is any sort of computer.
Two padded chairs, both on wheels, sit at the desk, between the drawer columns. To the right of the desk stands a metal cart, its shiny top reflecting the sunrays, unaccompanied by any gleaming highlights from the dark doors on its sides. A few books sit upon it.
