This device is not immediately recognizable to all as a clock, but it is indeed one. It stands perhaps a meter high, towering over the rest of the desk, and on the platform at its base, it says "THE LONG NOW FOUNDATION" in block capital letters.

No matter when you come in here, the clock never seems to tick.
