Click on the Start button and then choose Control Panel. In the Control Panel, open the Network and Internet Connections icon.

Click the Set up or change your Internet connection icon.

  1. On the General tab, change the address of the home page to: http://www.hevanet.com Click the Apply button.
  2. On the Programs tab, select Outlook Express for E-mail. Next, click the Connections tab. 
  3. Click the Setup button to launch the Internet Connection Wizard.
STEP-BY-STEP: Internet Connection Wizard

Network Connection Type - Choose the 1st option.
 
Connect to the Internet. Click Next.

On the next screen, check the 2nd option
 
Set up my connection manually. Click Next..

On the next screen, check the 1st option
 
Connect using a dial-up modem. Click Next.

ISP Name
 

Phone number
 
(Portland number. For other areas, click here.)

Internet Account Information
 
Username:
Password:
Confirm Password:

Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer.
Make this the default Internet connection.
Turn on Internet Connection firewall for this connection.

Click Finish.

Go back to the Internet Options icon in the Control Panel and click the Connection Tab. Change the connection option to "Always dial my default connection". Click OK.


Setting Up Your Internet Mail Account

When you launch Outlook Express the first time, the Account Setup Wizard will start.

My incoming mail server is a:  server.
 
Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server:

Remember password

Click Finish.

If the Account Setup Wizard does not start, or you wish to check or change the Email settings, click Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties.

GETTING ON THE INTERNET

To start your Internet session double click on the Internet Explorer Icon. You should see a Connect To Hevanet window. Make sure your Hevanet login name and password are in the username and password fields. (do not add "@hevanet.com" in the username field). Click on Connect to start your modem dialing. If you get any error messages, see the Troubleshooting section.

Email can be accessed by clicking the Mail icon on the Internet Explorer Toolbar and selecting "Read Mail". You can also launch Outlook Express directly from its Desktop icon.
