Scoutcapades 2001
The local Boy Scouts held their annual Scoutcapades Saturday, April 7th at the Multnomah Greyhound Park in Fairview. The attractions included wood and leathercraft working, home safety and security, camping displays, outdoor cooking demonstrations, race-cars, fire and police vehicles and much more. All in all there were thousands of Scouts that turned out for the event. The Hoodview Chapter had the pleasure of sponsoring the BB gun shooting booth for the event. John Wilson from Troop 174 contacted us about the possibility of the OHA providing BB's and targets for the Scouts to use. Once John explained that the donation would help them to continue to educate and train local Scouts (who we know are our future shooters, hunters, and responsible gun owners) we knew right away that we had to help out. We donated nearly 200 targets and 5000 bb's to the Scouts and they used them all during the eight-hour session! We plan on supporting events like these in the future and salute the Boy Scouts of America for providing this valuable service.
