As you bend down to pick up the white piece of paper lying on the floor, I caution you.

I must warn you. The island we are on possesses . . . an unusual spirit. Or is possessed by it. Some of the objects around here share in it.

In the case of paper, this manifests itself as transportation. If you pick up and examine a page or a book too closely, you may find yourself . . . somewhere else entirely.

The color of the paper is often a guide to what may transpire. White papers are not all that common right now, but their effects are usually straightforward enough. Also, with any of the papers here, the effects can be avoided if you know what you are doing. If the paper does transport you somewhere, it is always possible to return.

Upon closer inspection, the white paper is actually longer than a typical page, folded on itself like an accordion, and has words on one side. The text is clearly typed or printed, not handwritten.

You put the paper down.
