Upon closer inspection, the edges of the dodecahedron are magnetic rods, and the vertices are ball bearings. No doubt an ungentle tug would disassemble the structure in one fell swoop.
The shelf also contains several books: A Canticle for Leibowitz, The Postman, Emergence, The Psalms of Herod, A Plague of Angels, The Stand, On the Beach, and War Day. Near The Postman sits a mimeograph of a short story titled "Mother to the World."
