From this vantage point, you can see from the rise you are standing atop all the way north northeast down to the sandy beach that is the path's destination.

In the early evening sunlight, the water is an absolutely gorgeous blue, a deep pure tone. The waves are gentle, but still audible at this distance, a soothing susurrus harmonizing with that of the trees.

On the beach, you can make out docks and small buildings. The ground rises sharply from the beach to the west, and also to the south to meet your feet. The path, you now see, has been paralleling the eastern coast of the island for the last kilometer or so.

A few palm trees mark this edge of the woods that you have just emerged from. You step over coconut shell fragments and descend to the beach.
